Forget location. Ambience, ambience, ambience.
The Prado at Balboa Park has ambience down to a science, let alone their incredible location as well. Be it jaw-dropping views of the San Diego sunset, or the time-stopping architecture and gardens around the venue, weddings and events are unforgettable when at the Prado.
A little while ago, I was lucky enough to be part of a recent wedding there. We captured all the important moments recently shared by a couple of newlyweds and their closest family and friends.
Hidden moments,
Towards the end of the couple’s wedding shoot, it started to drizzle, creating a glowing mist surrounding them. I handed the Mr. and Mrs. an umbrella to hide under. With that, they walked together in front of the Prado’s quietly gleaming Bea Evenson Fountain under a black night sky. It was just the two of them, who found a hidden spot alone in the light rain, in the midst of their crowded, exciting reception.
Subtle glows,
I caught the two silhouetted in front of the warm, misty glow from the fountain and lights, holding each other with the umbrella for shelter. The umbrella also did a great side-job of reflecting the contrast between the water and the night. With the ultimate picture just taken, I switched my camera to “off”.
…And an unforgettable second captured on camera.
That was the last image captured of the night, and maybe the most important. It was the most romantic second that the couple had during their busy wedding reception. And now, it’s one of the Prado’s feature pictures on Facebook, one of my favorites, and most importantly, a memory to look back upon for the rest of the couple’s lives together.
The atmosphere that the Prado set for this couple’s wedding night made for a treasured time to all that attended. While documenting the wedding and reception was easy to do at the Prado, I was able to capture the most valuable times of the night that made it truly unforgettable.
